Performers
Join the guild.
This isn't a job advertisement, and there's nothing to fill in. Royal Guild is small and growing slowly, and mostly what we're doing right now is meeting people.
If character work is something you'd love to do — or something you already do and would love to do properly — we'd really like to hear from you.
Characters we'd love to add
Waiting for
the right person.
Some characters aren't in the guild yet, because we believe they're best played by performers who can represent them authentically. These are the ones we'd most love to find.
Tiana
Warmth, determination and a great deal of charm.
Jasmine
Poised, quick-witted and entirely her own person.
Mirabel
Bright, funny and wonderful with a room full of children.
Elphaba
Presence, wit and a little theatrical mischief.
Someone else in mind? Tell us who you'd love to play.
What matters to us
More than a resemblance.
- Genuine warmth with children, and the patience for the shy ones.
- The ability to stay in character when a four-year-old asks something unexpected.
- A performance background of some kind — theatre, dance, drama, music. Lovely to have, not essential.
- A singing voice is a wonderful bonus, and absolutely not a requirement.
- Care for costuming. Wigs and gowns are expensive and are treated accordingly.
- A Working With Children Check, or willingness to sort one before your first booking.
- A way of getting to bookings across Sydney.
We would provide the costuming, the wigs, the character work and the training. You bring the rest.
Being straight with you
Royal Guild is at the beginning of something. Work is occasional rather than steady, bookings come up when they come up, and we'd rather say that now than let anyone imagine otherwise.
What we can promise is that we'll keep your details — and that when a character opens, the people who reached out are the people we call.
Come and say hello.
No cover letter, no resume. Just tell us a little about yourself, who you'd love to play, and send a couple of recent photographs. If you've performed before, we'd love to hear about it. If you haven't, tell us why this appeals to you.
We'll write back either way, and if it feels like a fit, we'll have a proper conversation from there.
